20 Ways to Kickstart Your Life to Success

By Rhonnda Fritz

Ok so it is official.  Winter is now over and Spring is well and truly here.  So it’s time to wake up and start living again.   In my capacity as a Life Coach and Astrologer, I can tell you right now that you create your own destiny every nano second of every moment with the thoughts that you have and with your feelings.  You choose the choices you have to choose from.  But if all that is a little much to get your head around this early in the Season, here are a few tips to get you kick started in the right direction.....

1.      Take a Walk in the Sunshine

Enjoy the sunshine! Studies show that Vitamin D & sunshine can boost your mood & help to eliminate the blues.  A walk in the sunshine also stimulates your metabolism and gets your creative juices flowing.  What better way is there to start your day.

2.   Eat Breakfast
I’ve lost count of the number of clients I see who don’t eat breakfast.  You go to sleep and one would therefore assume fasting for several hours, therefore eating breakfast is breaking your fast.   Begin your day with a large glass of water with lemon to wake up your body.  Then, follow with some hearty protein like bacon and eggs, cereals and fruit.   Start your day hydrated and well nourished and your body will continue to support you right throughout the most stressful of days.

3.  Drink More Tea
I know all the hardened coffee drinkers will ignore this one but it’s worth giving it a try.  Green tea leaves are full of  antioxidants that are great for your body.  Herbal teas with camomile and lemon grass can be very relaxing before bed while a cup of rosehip and ginger will revive any flagging spirit throughout the day.  Peppermint tea is great for the digestive system so worth considering after lunch.

4.  Breathe Deeply
Ok so this one may seem a little obvious but you would be surprised how many people don’t know how to breathe properly.  Take a moment to think about your breathing style.  Do you take many quick breaths or do you take slow deep breaths from down deep in your diaphragm?  Breathing deeply sustains your energy and actually assists you to relax.  It also oxygenates your body and keeps you on top of your game.

5.  Get Your Body Moving
With the advent of technology we have become a society of sedentary beings.   We tend to become so caught up in front of our computer screens that we are forgetting to move our bodies regularly.  The body is designed to move regularly so take time to exercise whether it be walking a little further to get to work, taking regular breaks away the computer screen, going to the gym.  Make some form of exercise a part of each and every day.  It’s a great way to remove tension, nurture your spirit & heal your body.

6.   Drink More Water
Even though our body is mostly water it still needs to be nourished and hydrated several times a day.  So many people are walking around feeling the effects of severe dehydration without being aware of it.  Even as little as 2% dehydration can have symptoms similar to anxiety, listlessness and stress.  On average, drink 8 glasses of filtered water a day and notice how clear your thinking becomes and how more energetic you feel.

7.   Eat More Vegetables and Fruit
Vegetables like broccoli are full or antioxidants to help keep your body in peak condition.  Keeping your body fuelled & balanced with optimal nutrition is a way to ensure that your body has what it needs to fight off stress.  Eating fruit is a good way to keep your energy levels up.  Eating fruit and vegetables also assists the natural cleansing functions of the body.  For instance eating nothing but watermelon for 1 day is a great tonic for the liver.

8.   Supplement Your Diet with Vitamins and Minerals
There are 2 schools of thought here.  One school of thought is that if you eat a balanced nutritious diet you don’t need additional vitamins and minerals and the other school of thought maintains that our food chain is severely depleted when it comes to providing sufficient vitamins and minerals to keep the body in peak condition.   But the reality is that most people don’t eat a balanced diet so supplementing your diet with vitamins and minerals is not going to hurt.  Talk to a Naturopath or your Health Care Professional about what you need.

9.  Take Time to Relax Before Going To Bed
Take time every night to slow down and let your body and mind know it's time to rest. Too often we go to bed without completing the day.  Take a warm bath, jump in a spa, write your thoughts in a journal, light lavender scented candles or rub lavender essential oils into your skin, meditate, read a book that doesn’t make you think much, watch a mindless tv show - anything to wind down and relax your mind before bed.

10.   Get More Sleep

Change your habits so that you can regularly get a minimum of 6 to 8 hours sleep a night.  In particular, be in bed before 10pm each night so that your body can rejuvenate and keep your hormones in balance.  This is of course impossible for the millions of shift workers out there.  But it is possible to develop a sleep routine that enables the regeneration process to take place particularly if you go to bed relaxed, sleep in a darkened room and eliminate all external noise.

11.  Keep Learning and Growing
The best way to feel great is to keep your mind excited with new experiences.  Read books, attend workshops and trainings on subjects that interest you, learn new skills and apply them. There is so much information out there and so many things to do.  Make a decision to live your life to the fullest and not just exist in the space that has been allotted to you.

12.  Listen to Music
There is nothing like music to uplift the soul and to keep you motivated or relaxed.  Keep your mp3 player full of songs that make you smile. Also keep a library of great motivational speakers in your mp3 player and listen to them regularly and even apply some of the advice and techniques they give you.   It could just be what you are looking for in that moment to change your life.

13.  Take Time to Spoil Yourself
Now be honest... when was the last time that you took time out for yourself to maybe get a massage, spend a day at the Spa being pampered, to hire a sports car and drive the open road or better yet, drive your own, to do whatever you wanted to do without feeling guilty about everything else you should be doing instead.   Most people are like rats on a wheel that just keeps spinning.  They want to get off the wheel – in fact they day dream about it constantly but don’t step off the wheel.  But then they start to feel unwell and suddenly they need to take time off the wheel because they are sick.   They get their time off but because they feel so unwell, they can’t enjoy it.   Wouldn’t it be far simpler to simply take the time to spoil yourself – to step off the wheel and enjoy some time out without creating an illness to make it legitimate?

14.  Create Goals and Focus on What You Want
We get what we focus on in this world but if you don’t have a focus and some clearly defined goals your life is going to be a series of mismatched coincidences.  You create your life.  You are doing it every day whether you realise it or not.  So why not take the time to think about what is important to you and create some goals.  Put those goals out into the future and take some action to make them happen.

15.   Spend Time With Your Family & Loved Ones

In this fast paced world we live in, we often forget that time is passing by very quickly.  At the end of the day when you look back on your life it is probably not going to be how much money you’ve made or how successful you’ve been that is going to be important to you.  For most people as they reflect on their life, it is the people they have known and the relationships they’ve formed that matter.  Take time to nurture your relationships and to nurture family bonds – not just at Christmas and Birthdays but all year round.   Learn from the children in your life because they are far wiser than we give them credit for.

16.  Go Out and Play with Your Pets

There is no greater love than the love of an animal.  Their love is pure and unconditional.  No matter how stressed you may feel, stroking an animal will have an instant calming effect.  Look into their eyes and see your reflection.  See yourself as they see you and instantly you will realise that when it all boils down to it, nothing is that important to get stressed out about.  For every problem there is a solution if your stop long enough to drown out the external noise and listen to your internal voice.

17.  Clean Out Your Cupboards

How long has it been since you cleaned out the drawers and cupboards in your house and your office.   Go through them and throw away all the non essential paper and paraphernalia that you’ve collected.  In Feng Shui the state of your surrounding space is a reflection of your inner space so cleaning up the clutter in your outer world will help you to organise your life and give you a clearer picture of where you are headed.

18.  Find a Mentor and Surround Yourself With Positive People

One of the best ways to create success in your life and to feel great is to find a mentor, model their excellence and then install that excellence within yourself.   You could also take the time to talk to a Senior Citizen about their life and learn from their experience.  But the ultimate way to feel great is to surround yourself with positive thinking people who love life and who look for possibilities who will keep you on your toes and motivated to living a fulfilled life.

19.  Spice Up Your Love Life

Believe it or not but the best way to relieve stress is to maintain a healthy and vibrant love life.  But so often our love life gets squeezed somewhere between doing the shopping and falling asleep or if single, grabbing it on the go when someone half decent happens along.  Take the time to spice it up and savour the experience.  Your mind, body and spirit will thank you for it.

20.

Dream Your Dreams & Believe Everything is Possible
Dream your dreams and then create your dreams.  It’s your life so live it to the fullest.  Anything is possible when you are the one creating your destiny. Believe it and it is so.
